This subclass is all about adding delayed gratification to Hunter's traps.
Level 3
Bag of Dirty Tricks.
You have a pool of LVL Trap Dice (d4) that recharges on a Safe Rest. Action : Place a Trap Die from your pool at Range 1. Whenever a creature Moves in the Trigger Zone (Reach 1) of the Trap Die, you can choose to trigger it for free. Remove the Trap Die after its effect is completed. The number displayed by the die corresponds to a kind of trap :
- 1 : Spikes : deal WIL * (Trap Die's size) damage to the creature triggering the Trap Die. Bonus damage from Hunter's Mark applies to this ability.
- 2 : Bucket of Water : Triggering creature becomes Taunted an vulnerable to Lightning and Ice damage until the end of its next turn.
- 3 : Caltrops : Trigger Zone of the Trap Die becomes Difficult Terrain and triggering creature becomes Prone.
- 4 : Smoke Screen : Until the end of your next turn, Trigger Zone of the Trap Die is obscuring vision. Creatures inside it are Blinded and have Cover.
Sadistic Planner.
You gain an additional way to gain a TotH charge :
- You trigger a Trap Die
Level 7
Bag of Dirty Tricks (2).
Your Trap Dice are now d6s. Additional Trap Die options :
- 5 : Poison : Triggering creature becomes Poisoned for 1d4 turns.
- 6 : Flash : Triggering creature is Blinded for 1d4 turns.
Improvised Contraptions.
When you camp you can make a DC 12 Naturecraft check to regain WIL Trap Dice.
Level 11
Bag of Dirty Tricks (3).
Your Trap Dice are now d8s. Additional Trap Die options :
- 7 : Pit : The Trigger Zone of the Trap Die becomes a 10ft deep pit. Creatures inside this zone fall into it, taking 1d6 falling damage in the process. (1/Encounter)
- 8 : Death Threat : Triggering creature takes double damage until the end of its next turn.
But what if we made it BIG?!.
Whenever you place a Trap Die you can place another one on top of it to extend the Trigger Zone of the trap from Reach 1 to Reach 2. When you do so replace "Triggering creature" in the effects of the trap with "All creatures within Reach 2".
Level 15
Got One!.
Free Reaction : When you trigger a Trap Die you can move up to your speed and attack triggering creature. If you are in melee or if this is your quarry your crits are Vicious.
